Celebrating Diversity in the Classroom with Alexs Pate at Custom Ed

Capstone Publishing, along with Custom Education Solutions, invites you to a morning celebrating diversity in children's literature with Alexs Pate.

TUESDAY, MAY 7, 2019 I 8:30 am - 12:00 pm

FREE

Join us as author Alexs Pate (from the Innocent Classroom) presents from his new book, Being You. It acknowledges that we are all caught up together in a harsh system that labels and limits children, but it also lights a way out of it, encouraging children to be seen for who they really are—not just who they’re told to be—and  challenges adults to respond with clear eyes.
Capstone will give a behind-the-scenes look at how a publishing company approaches the creation of culturally relevant literature, such as Being You, that provides mirrors and windows for students, as well as provide a sneak-peek at new characters and
series currently in development.
Our team will offer strategies on evaluating classroom libraries and bookrooms for bias, as well as incorporating diversity into your balanced literacy resources.

Check-in will start at 8:00 am.
Coffee & pastries will be provided.
